Clearing the Pheonix Green Gardens was a rewarding challenge for the Dunham’s team! As part of our Social Value commitment to Poplar HARCA, Alison Beach, Bill Beach, Laura Robinson, Aykac, Charlie, and Harley joined forces with members of the local community to restore and transform the much-needed community space.
With only 3 hours on the clock, they all worked tirelessly to clear overgrown greenery, opening up pathways, and the biggest surprise of the day – uncover a hidden garden shed! They even managed to salvage some wood that can be repurposed for future repairs around the garden, and local resident, Hina, and her son, Samuel, found some potatoes in the beds they were helping to clear!
Hina said: “Samuel is very happy and saying thank you for an amazing experience. He said it was the best day of his life.”
Thanks to Chloe Johnston, Community Projects and Partnerships Support Worker (Sustainability Lead) at Poplar HARCA for bringing this opportunity our way, and a special shoutout to Pino and Rimie from Frien Electrical for lending their skills and enthusiasm to the effort.
Chloe Johnston comments: “Thanks SO much for all your help! The team were amazing! Can’t believe how fast they were…they got stuck straight in. You made such a difference to the garden – the photos say it all!”
