Last week, we found ourselves having a Building Heroes week, where we helped support the development of future tradespeople from the Armed Forces communities!

Wednesday, our in-house recruiter Nerhan Yilmaz visited the Building Heroes Multi Trade Centre in Wembley, alongside Bruno one of Purdy’s Operational Supervisors, to explore opportunities for hands-on training and employment across various trades.

Thursday, saw telephone interviews being conducted with trainees from the Retrofit Assessor Academy. These sessions not only assist in the programme delivery, which has a strong focus on employability skills and employment outcomes, but also provide trainees with insights into working within a property maintenance business and aiding in their career planning.

And Friday, Lucy Venables and Nerhan had the privilege of attending the graduation ceremony, celebrating the achievements of both Retrofit and Multi Trade trainees who have completed their qualifications.

Nicola Schneider, Deputy CEO of Building Heroes, says:
“Our collaboration with Kinovo Group reflects a strong example of how social value can be delivered meaningfully. From site visits to graduation ceremonies, their commitment to supporting members of the Armed Forces community into skilled employment has been clear. By providing hands-on opportunities and building industry connections, we’re not just training former Armed Forces personnel, we’re helping shape sustainable futures, working alongside organisations who are prepared to put in the time to truly walk the talk.”

As a Group, we are extremely proud of:

🔹 Facilitating connections between our subcontractors and the trainees, paving the way for self-employment opportunities.
🔹 Organising work experience placements that offer practical exposure to the industry.
🔹 Arranging follow-up meetings with our business leads to expand the trainee’s professional networks, providing them with valuable contacts and opportunities to further their careers

We’re committed to continuing our support for these Social Recruitment initiatives, helping to bridge the gap between training and employment within our sector and our veterans. It is really important that we keep supporting the continual development of future tradespeople and everything we can do to help bridge the gap for serving military returning to civilian life is important.  Being so actively involved with the great work done by Building Heroes not only offers the chance for short term hands-on experiences, but is also the potential base for exciting careers.
